Prof Mkenda Holds Talks With TAEC’s New DG for Brighter Future Of Nuclear Technology Sector

MINISTER of Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Adolf Mkenda has met and held talks with the newly- picked Director General (DG) of the Tanzania Atomic Energy Commission (TAEC), Prof. Najat Kassim Mohammed.

The fruit talks, held at the Ministry’s Headquarters in Dodoma Capital City, among others, focused on better ways through which the two sides can successfully bridge efforts to heighten the performance of the atomic sector in the country.

The talks have been held for the first time since the President of United Republic of Tanzania, Dr.  Samia Suluhu Hassan appointed Prof. Najat Kassium Mohamed the Director General of Tanzania Atomic Energy Cpommission (TAEC).

In efforts to uplift performance of the atomic sector in Tanzania, TAEC is working in sync with the Ministry of Education in many ways, especially through rolling out potential scholarship towards the students who scored impressive marks in science subjects their final university exams.

The vision of the useful scholarship scheme which priorities female students is to ensure the country possesses a good number of useful pundits in the sector in question.

Moreover, the three-years scholarship program, involving at least 2.6bn/- package, also focuses to spur innovation in the different science facets across the country.

In further perspectives, the scheme targets to attract and motivate girls to undertake science studies, from secondary to higher education level, the move which aligns with the Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM)’Manifesto.

TAEC is an institution responsible for the control of the safe use of radiation in the country and the promotion of the safe use of nuclear technology in the country where this Institute is under the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology.
