TAEC and Tanzania Police Force have Signed an Agreement to Strengthen the Protection and Safety of Radioactive Sources

The Tanzania Atomic Energy Commission (TAEC) and the Tanzania Police Force (TPF) have signed an agreement that is aimed to further strengthen safety, security and protection of radioactive sources in the country and to avoid such sources from falling into wrong hands and misused in criminal / terrorist incidents that may cause harm and panic to the public.

These agreements will enable close collaboration between TAEC and TPF in ensuring safety and security of radioactive source. The collaboration will also enable the two parties to ensure that there is no violation of laws and regulations on radiation safety and safe use of radioactive sources.

The agreement was   signed by the Commissioner of Operations and Training of Police Force Liberatus Sabas on behalf of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), and Professor Lazaro Busagala, The Director General of the Tanzania Atomic Energy Commission.
