THEME: NUCLEAR SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
1. 1. BACKGROUND
Nuclear Science and Technology is applied in various sectors of importance in social economic development. However, the public is not fully aware of the technology. This conference will serve as a platform to promote the diverse applications of nuclear science and technology, including Health, Agriculture, Livestock, Energy, Mining, Water, Industries, Radiation Safety, Safeguards, Security, Environmental Protection, Nutrition and Food Security, among others.
This conference and its exhibitions will bring together researchers, scientists, academicians, innovators, entrepreneurs, inventors, policy/decision makers, practitioners, users, and regulators. It aims at promoting sharing of knowledge and experience and forming a network of stakeholders in the fields of peaceful applications of nuclear science and technology.
Authors and invited speakers are requested to submit abstracts that fall within the scope of this conference. Submitted papers will be peer reviewed and will be published in the conference proceedings. The review of submitted papers will be based on originality and their contribution to nuclear science and technology. Submitted papers must be original and should not have been previously published, submitted, or accepted for publication elsewhere.
2. 2. OBJECTIVES
The annual conference and exhibitions on applications of nuclear science and technology will provide a unique opportunity to achieve the following specific objectives:
i. To promote nuclear science and technology applications in various sectors
ii. To strengthen a network of professionals in nuclear science and technology that will create opportunities for collaboration,
iii. To provide a platform for participants to exchange information and experiences in the field,
iv. To explore opportunities in nuclear science and technology for sustainable development,
v. To broaden government and industry participation to support the development of the nuclear industry,
vi. To encourage private sector participation, including industrialists and entrepreneurs, in the nuclear industry,
vii. To enhance national and International collaboration on nuclear science and technology.
3. 3. THEME
Nuclear Science and Technology for Sustainable Development
There is a notable growth in the use of nuclear science and technology in the modern world for sustainable development. However, awareness of its contributions remains limited in developing countries, including Tanzania.
4. 4. TOPICS
A series of plenary sessions will address the topics listed below, featuring invited keynote speakers from academia and industry who will deliver oral presentations and participate in panel discussions. In addition, poster sessions will be organized to allow ample time for discussion and interaction among participants. A closing roundtable session will summarize key conclusions from the plenary discussions and outline recommendations for the future advancement of nuclear science and technology.
The scope of the conference is meant to cover, but is not limited to, the following topical areas:

ii. Radiation protection and safety culture;
iii. Nuclear safety and security;
iv. Nuclear technology in health (diagnostic and therapy);
v. Nuclear science and technology for pests control;
vi. Radioisotopes applications;
vii. Nuclear energy for the future;
viii. Nuclear applications in food and nutrition;
ix. Neutron activation analysis;
x. Applications of research reactors;
xi. Linear accelerators;
xii. Multipurpose irradiation;
xiii. Environmental radiation monitoring;
xiv. Nuclear technology in oil and gas industry;
xv. Uranium exploration, mining, production, supply and demand, economics and environmental Issues;
xvi. Atoms for sustainable development;
xvii. Nuclear politics, economics, communication, and social acceptance;
xviii. Innovative approaches to the development of nuclear energy;
xix. Radioactive waste management;
xx. Education, training, and nuclear knowledge management;
xxi. Occupational radiation protection;
xxii. Environmental monitoring and public radiation protection;
xxiii. Radiological emergency preparedness and response;
xxiv. Information Communication Technology (ICT) in nuclear science and technology;
xxv. Radiation detection and measurements;
xxvi. Detection and prevention of Illicit trafficking of radioactive and nuclear materials;
xxvii. Plant mutation induction and biotechnology;
xxviii. Nuclear technology in industrial applications;
xxix. Application of nuclear analytical techniques to study environmental processes and pollution; and
xxx. Radiation Dosimetry, Calibration, standards and quality management system.
5. 5. SIDE EVENTS
Side events (workshops, presentations and exhibitions) will provide an opportunity for showcasing participants work during this conference. Side events aligned with the conference’s goals and themes will facilitate idea sharing, solutions dissemination, and stakeholder engagement while enhancing networking opportunities. All conference participants are welcome to attend the side events.
6. 6. PARTICIPANTS
The Conference is open to a diverse audience, including scientists, academicians, engineers, regulators, law enforcers, innovators, private sector, civil society, public, media, policy and decision makers, and other interested stakeholders are also encourage to participate.
7. 7. INSTRUCTIONS TO AUTHORS
Language
The official language of the conference is English; however, contributions in Kiswahili are also welcomed. Oral presentations will be 15 minutes in length, followed by 5 minutes for discussion and questions.
Submission of Papers and Poster Abstracts
Authors wishing to present papers or posters at the conference should submit an abstract in electronic format, not exceeding 300 words (including title), to the Secretariat through conference@taec.go.tz. Abstracts should be written formatted in Times New Roman, 12-point font, with 1.5 spacing. Abstracts should include: title, name (s) of the author (s) and postal address, background of the study, objectives, research methodology, results, conclusions and key policy messages. Review papers are also accepted.
Key deadlines
Submission of abstracts, including Registration Form: 30th June 2025
Notification of acceptance of abstract: 30th July 2025
Electronic submission of full paper: 30th September 2025. Conference organizers intend to produce peer-reviewed proceedings registered with ISSN and thus authors wishing to submit full papers should observe this deadline.
Registration for the conference ends: 18th October 2025
Abstracts or full papers not received by the set deadlines will not be considered for inclusion in the book of abstracts or proceedings, nor for oral or poster presentations.
All accepted presentations must be emailed conference @taec.go.tz. Prior to the conference opening. Organizers cannot guarantee connection for individual laptop. Please submit your Power Point presentation to us on or before 10th November 2025. The conference secretariat will be available to assist you.
Posters may be prepared in either English or Kiswahili and will be displayed throughout the conference. Authors are required to conduct thorough editorial work on their papers before submission to the conference organizing committee.
Preparation of Manuscripts:
The organizing committee requests that all authors wishing to have their papers published in the proceedings submit their documents in the following format
o MS Word compatible;
o Full paper within 20 pages, including references, tables/charts and keywords;
o Abstract length of up to 300 words;
o 3 – 5 key words;
o Paper shall contain an Abstract, Introduction, Methodology, Results, Discussion, Conclusions and References.
o Manuscript typed in Times New Roman font 12, 1.5 spacing and not exceeding 20 pages (including title page).
o A 2.5 cm margin on both sides of the page is desirable.
o Do not use headers or footers
o Tables, plates and figures should be well captioned
o SI units used must be used consistently;

Guidelines for preparation of posters
o Posters are informal presentations featuring solutions to problems and innovative projects with lessons to share. Your topic could be described by text or graphics or photographs, etc.
o Posters must be written in English/Swahili.
o The best configuration of your poster is A1 vertical (841mm x 594mm).
o Authors of accepted posters must attend the conference for the poster to be displayed and presented.
o Posters will be displayed in a designated space at the Conference venue. Display panels will be provided.
o Display panels for posters will be ready on 15th November 2025, and all posters should be put up on 18th November 2025 before 10:30 am.
o Personal laptop and visual display devices may be used at the poster display area. Should your presentation include a laptop or the use of other electronic devices, please inform us in advance.
o You will have the opportunity to present your poster to the audience within the conference programme: You will have two minutes for a quick intro – and to attract as much participants as possible to visit your poster at the poster exhibition.
8. 8. VENUE AND DATES
The Conference will be held at ARUSHA INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE CENTER (AICC) from 18–20 November 2025.
9. 9. EXHIBITION
Exhibition will run alongside the conference, providing a platform for Individuals, organizations or groups to showcase their work. Interested exhibitors should submit a summary not exceeding 300 words that includes: the title, name(s) of exhibitors and a detailed address, background, objectives, function a description, and end-user. There will be exhibition booth with size 3m by 3m and height of 2.56m. The deadline for submitting of exhibition summaries is 30th September 2025.
10. 10. REGISTRATION FEES
Registration fees cover conference materials, meal (tea and lunch), stationaries, and access to ICT facilities. Payment of fees shall be done through the control number indicated on the Government Bill that will be issued to the respective participants.

11. 11. CONFERENCE SPONSORS
Sponsorships will be available in four (4) categories: Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze. The benefits for sponsors include;
i. A free-standing banner at the entrance to the conference venue and conference room;
ii. An exhibition booth at the event;
iii. Logo placement on all conference programs, menus and tickets;
iv. Complimentary registration for up to five (5) participants;
v. Organization / company logo placement in the conference literature portal (with hyperlink) and conference signage;
vi. A ten (10) minutes speech during either the key note session or lunch;
vii. Limited opportunities for posters or oral presentations on topics relevant to the conference theme.

12. 12. MODE OF PAYMENT
All payments using local currency (Tanzanian Shillings) will be made to the designated bank account using the control number issued after registration. On the other hand, payments using USD can be paid directly to the following bank account named TAEC NBC USD REVENUE COLLECTION, ACCOUNT No. 014105003035. Please ensure to include the appropriate reference information when making payments to facilitate tracking and confirmation.
